Barbara Ann Corcoran
Barbara Ann Corcoran (born March 10 1949) is an American businesswoman investor and speaker. She is also a consultant, speaker and syndicated columnist. She is also an TV personality, author and author. The Corcoran Group was a New York City real estate brokerage she established. NRT purchased it for $66million in 2001. Corcoran soon exited the company. Corcoran is among ABC's original Shark Tank investors. To date she has appeared on every seasons of Shark Tank. As of February 2020 she had completed 53 deals. The most significant of these was a $350,000 investment to Coverplay at 40%. Corcoran was the second child of 10 children born to an Irish-Catholic couple working in the middle class located in Edgewater, New Jersey. Florence Corcoran was Florence's mother and was a homemaker. Edwin W. Corcoran Jr. was her father during Corcoran's childhood. Her family depended sometimes on food deliveries from an artisanal local grocery store for free food. Corcoran recalls her father being an alcohol-dependent drunkard who often treated her mother with contempt and disrespect, especially after having consumed alcohol. Corcoran struggled in school, and was later told she was dyslexic. She was a student at the local Catholic elementary school and started the high school system at St. Cecilia High School in Englewood. Corcoran, who had failed numerous classes in her first year of high school, was moved to Leonia High School. There she was awarded a D.
